Moltar |
The MOLTAR is the world’s largest pump. With a 16” rotor, this pump can generate the highest flow rate in the industry. The MOLTAR uses a 5” diameter shaft, and 6” diameter posts for long service life. These parts are also protected with sleeves to minimize wear.
Not only will the MOLTAR provide maximum flow, you can also gas inject. With a large 4” injection tube, the MOLTAR injects gas through directly over the outlet of the base, as illustrated below. The outward flow of metal carries the gas out into the molten metal bath for superior degassing of large furnaces. |
Our Method
The Moltar uses the vertical tube method of gas injection. The gas is injected directly into the outward flow of metal. The gas is instantly sheared into tiny bubbles for superior mixing. The tube is inserted into a sealed tube plug to prevent leakage. |

Alternative Method Problems with angled tube method: ¨ Tube projects into the flow of metal and is broken by debris passing through the pump. ¨ Large bubbles form on down-stream side of the tube and can break away when the metal flow is low. ¨ Only the top stream of metal shears gas. This requires faster metal flow to shear gas since half of the flow is not shearing. ¨ Gas leakage occurs between tube and plug. ¨ Build up of mag-chloride occurs in exit and reduces flow |
